Tim Peterson, Director
Tim Peterson is the director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Tim has been involved with business management and market development in both large and small companies for the past 25 years. Beginning his career with a Fortune 100 company, he progressed to lead successful international operations in Korea and Australia. During his time at the center Tim has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs to improve business performance and turn ideas into viable business concepts. In addition to working directly with entrepreneurs, Tim has facilitated and instructed numerous programs and workshops in the area of entrepreneurship, marketing and business operations. Tim has a BA in History from UW-Madison and a MBA from the University of South Florida.
Rick Gorko, Consultant and Business Development Manager
Rick Gorko serves as consultant and business development manager for the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Gorko possesses extensive experience in the business development and finance fields. He has held senior management positions in banking and business development organizations, including 16 years as Director of the Small Business Development Center in Niagara County, New York. In these leadership roles, he has provided guidance on market expansion and business development initiatives that have resulted in the growth and success of hundreds of small businesses. Gorko holds SBA export certification and has led international trade delegations to several countries in Europe and China. He also holds a BA in Economics from Buffalo State College and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program from the National School of Finance and Management at Fairfield University.
Cheryl Mitchell, Consultant
Cheryl Mitchell works as a consultant at the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She has nearly ten years of business consulting experience with great success. Cheryl previously worked at Silicon Valley SBDC, Silicon Valley SCORE, three startups that successfully exited by acquisition by Fortune 500 companies, in addition to running her own consultancy. Her ambitions have led her to teach women college graduate business in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Cheryl earned her BBA in Finance, Investments and Banking from UW Madison and her MBA in Strategy and General Management from Massachusetts Institutes of Technology-Sloan School of Management.
Jason Mueller, Program Manager
Jason Mueller is responsible for the Small Business Development Center's (SBDC) education programs for entrepreneurs and established business owners. He also works with local professional organizations to develop small business education curriculum, ensuring that the Milwaukee business community has access to timely and effective continuing education. Jason received his B.A. in religious studies with a minor in chemistry from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He brings more than five years manufacturing experience, seven years retail, four years distribution and four years professional coaching to the SBDC.
